Bola Tinubu stepped up to establish ground rules for future Federal Executive Council sessions, just days after the Supreme Court recognized him as Nigeria's legitimately elected president.

Tinubu took the opportunity to issue a severe warning during his Monday night presidency over the FEC meeting in the State House's Council Chambers. He claimed to have seen unidentified individuals entering the chambers.

Together with expressing trust in Femi Gbajiabiamila as his pick for Chief of Staff, Tinubu also issued a caution, urging any campaigns of defamation against him to end immediately.

"First of all, let me reiterate to all of you the fact that a lot of stories are going around about what is happening. I've told everyone in this country that I can make mistakes, they're bound to air them out and correct them.

"Perfection is that of God Almighty. I have absolute confidence in the integrity of my Chief of Staff. All campaigns of calumny and insinuations should stop, the buck stops here.

"If I make mistakes, I'm ready to own up to it and we're all joining hands to fight corruption and we want to enforce the law along with you", the President said.

However, the Council gave a minute of silence for a former member of FEC and one-time Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Adamu Fika, who died last week at the age of 90 years.

As of the time this report was filed, the FEC meeting had descended into a closed-door session attended by all of the ministers, Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Federation's Civil Service, Honorable Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), and all of the ministers.
