Supreme Court Rejects Atiku's Request To Provide New Evidence Against Tinubu

Atiku Abubakar's request to provide new evidence against President Bola Tinubu was denied by the Supreme Court

Justice Inyang Okoro gave the decision at the Presidential Election Tribunal Court (PEPC) on Thursday, during the hearing of the appeals filed against Bola Tinubu's victory.

In order to prove that Tinubu gave the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) a falsified certificate, Atiku has petitioned the court for permission to present further evidence. This is what Atiku says.

Chris Uche (SAN), Atiku's attorney, stated that the admission of the 32-page document will be in the best interests of justice.

However, Justice Okoro stated that it is already too late to admit this kind of evidence. He referred to the 1999 Constitution's Section 285(5), which states that the PEPC will consider and rule on any petitions pertaining to the presidential election.

He said that the Supreme Court lacked authority to admit the document because the 180-day period had ended on September 17
