President Tinubu Is affirmed By The Supreme Court As The Victor Of The 2023 Elections
President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, was declared the legitimate victor of the nation's February 25 presidential election by the Supreme Court on Thursday.
Atiku Abubakar's challenge against President Bola Tinubu's election was denied by the Supreme Court.
The court decided on Thursday that Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominee, had not presented a valid appeal.
"On the whole, it is my view that there is no merit in this appeal," Justice Inyang Okoro said.
Atiku attempted to reverse the presidential election petition tribunal's ruling, which upheld Tinubu's election to the office of president.
The appeal of Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) candidate for president in the general election, against President Bola Tinubu's victory was also denied by the Supreme Court.
Among other things, Vice-President Kashim Shettima was accused of double nomination by Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), which disqualified her from being Tinubu's running partner.
However, after rendering a decision on the subject of double nomination, the Supreme Court declared that it could not permit the case to be reopened.
