NIPOST Staff Shut Down The Headquarters

NIPOST employees shut down the headquarters after rejecting the new CEO that President Tinubu named

NIPOST employees reportedly protested at the NIPOST headquarters in Abuja over the nomination of Tola Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General on Monday morning, October 16.

Odeyemi was selected against their wishes, according to the protesting employees who shut down the workplace, and as a result she cannot be permitted to take on her new responsibilities.

Recall that Ajuri Ngelale, a Presidential spokesman, announced Odeyemi's appointment last week. She succeeds departing Postmaster-General Sunday Adepoju, who was chosen by former President Muhammadu Buhari about a year ago.

The initial term for Adepoju, an accountant who previously served as a representative for Oyo State's Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was set at five years.

Adepoju earlier claimed that President Bola Ahmed had reappointed him as Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, in a statement released by NIPOST on Friday.

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned Rt. Honourable Adeyemi Sunday Adepoju as the Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), citing Adepoju's sterling leadership and excellent performance during his stay in office as the reason for his reinstatement", a statement from NIPOST reads.
