Lagos Government Closes Markets at Mile 12 and Owode Onirin due to environmental violations
The Mile 12 International Market and the Owode Onirin Market, both of which are located along Ikorodu Road in the Kosofe Local Government region, have both been closed by the Lagos State Government.
Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, revealed the details, reiterating the commitment of the administration to resolving environmental infractions and upholding cleanliness and order in the state.
Numerous issues led to the seal-up, including the uncontrolled burning and dumping of trash, the environment's continued squalor, blocked and clogged drainages, and the pervasive problem of illegal and indiscriminate parking.
The abandonment of trucks on the main route, which severely hampered the free flow of traffic in the area, was another major cause for concern.
