Fire outbreak occurred at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex on Sunday night, shortly after there were rumors circulating about the state governor Sim Fubara's impending impeachment.
Around ten o'clock at night, the fire began, and it was put out. A fire engine was spotted on the premises of the establishment as security officers from the adjacent Command of the Rivers Police assaulted the site.
There was no success in obtaining information from House members.
Although it's unclear if the fire had anything to do with the political controversy, there have been rumors of discord between Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike, his predecessor.
According to reports, there might be a plot to remove the governor, and some young people have allegedly mobilized against it.
