PGMOL acknowledges that Luis Diaz's goal for Liverpool should have stood in full VAR explanation

The two Video Assistant Referee (VAR) referees who erroneously disallowed Luis Dáz's goal in Liverpool's 2-1 loss at Tottenham on Saturday have been barred from the weekend's remaining games.

PGMOL, the organization in charge of officiating in England, has already acknowledged that Daz had a goal mistakenly disallowed for offside after the VAR, Darren England, and assistant VAR, Dan Cook, believed the goal had been awarded by the on-field officials.

In the 34th minute, Diaz believed he had given the Reds the lead, but the offside flag was raised instead.

The on-field choice was mistakenly deemed to be a "goal" by the VAR crew.

As soon as they realized Dáz was in the penalty area, they signaled "check complete" to the on-field crew to confirm the goal.

However, when referee Simon Hooper was informed of this, he accepted the decision made by his assistance on the field, which the assistant had called offside, as being valid.

This ensured that the choice stayed unlawful rather than being transformed to a goal.

Craig Pawson will now serve as the fourth official for the Sunday match between Nottingham Forest and Brentford in place of England. Cook was scheduled to serve as the assistant for Monday's match between Fulham and Chelsea, but he has also resigned, and Eddie Smart has taken his position.
