Aides To Atiku Warn That Dollar Could Reach N2,000 Before Christmas As The Naira Plummets To N1,310
One of the representatives for former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Daniel Bwala, has expressed worries that the devaluation of the Nigerian Naira might be overwhelming and could perhaps reach a worrisome level of N2,000 to the US dollar before the forthcoming Christmas season.
The forecast comes as the naira continues to plummet in value on the black market.
Bwala bemoaned that the nation's economic situation has not significantly improved despite President Bola Tinubu's appointment of former World Bank official Wale Edun as Nigeria's Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Yemi Cardoso as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Bwala posted on social media, tweeting, "The way the economy is sinking, if serious care is not taken, by Christmas, the dollar would sell for N2,000. Everything rises and falls on the naira value."
The former presidential spokesman for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) questioned the efficacy of the prominent appointments made by Tinubu, saying, "Where are the Wale Edun and Yemi Cardoso of this world that they told us one will walk on waters and the other would turn water to wine? Big, big grammar, but no single sign of light at the end of the tunnel. Largest cabinet in the world, but only one minister is working; Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior."
