'Longest marathon reading aloud' by an Individual is set by a Nigerian instructor, breaking the Guinness World Record

John Obot, a teacher from Nigeria, has surpassed the previous record of 124 hours for the longest marathon reading aloud by one individual.

The instructor from Akwa Ibom State is currently setting a new record of 145 hours of non-stop reading aloud after breaking the Guinness World Record held by Isakov of Turkey.

The marathon was initially launched by Obot, a member of the Uyo Book Club, on Saturday, September 5, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. However, due to technical difficulties, the first attempt was abandoned after a few days. It was then revived on Tuesday, September 13, and it is anticipated to end at around one in the morning on Tuesday, September 19.

After spending 124 hours and 15 minutes reading, Isakov accomplished this milestone in 2022.
