Joe Biden, the president of the United States, commends President Tinubu for upholding democracy while leading ECOWAS



President Bola Tinubu's unrelenting dedication to upholding democracy and the rule of law in West Africa has won the utmost praise from Vice President Joe Biden of the United States of America.


Biden praised Tinubu's steadfast leadership as the chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during their discussion outside the just finished G20 Summit in New Delhi, India.


He also emphasized the crucial part he played in upholding democracy and stability in Niger and the surrounding area. "President Joe Biden met with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu today on the sidelines of the G20 in New Delhi, India to reinforce our enduring commitment to the U.S.-Nigeria relationship and to the longstanding friendship between our two countries and peoples," according to a statement on the official website of the White House.


"President Biden welcomed the Tinubu Administration's steps to reform Nigeria's economy and thanked President Tinubu for his strong leadership as the chair of the Economic Community of West African States to defend and preserve democracy and the rule of law in Niger and the broader region


"Nigeria's invitation to the G20 Summit is a recognition of Nigeria's important global role as Africa's largest democracy and economy."
