Nigeria House Of Reps Return From Yearly Break On Sept 26

The first legislative year of the 10th Assembly will continue on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, after the House of Representatives returns from its annual break.

In a statement released on Friday, the House's spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, stated that the material had been sent to MPs by Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the clerk of the House.

After a plenary session on Thursday, July 27, 2023, during which Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker, named the heads of the House's standing committees, the 10th Assembly adjourned.

In its first 100 days of operation, the 10th Assembly has been quite active, with 470 measures that have received their first reading and four that have passed to the second reading. 175 motions were also examined by the House.

Rotimi declared: "Some of the key early developments expected on resumption are the conclusion of the work of all ad hoc committees and the submission of their reports for the consideration of the House, in line with the directives of the Rt. Honourable Speaker.

"It is also expected that the final draft of the Legislative Agenda, developed by the ad hoc committee led by House Leader, Hon. Prof. Julius Inhonvbere, will be considered and adopted by the House. The draft agenda was developed following extensive consultations with critical stakeholders. In the same vein, soon after the resumption, it is anticipated that the membership of the standing committees will be announced and fully constituted."
