EPL: Reason Martinelli's Goal Was Disallowed By VAR Against Everton vs Arsenal

In their 1-0 victory over Everton on Sunday, Arsenal's Martinelli was denied his first goal of the year by a contentious VAR ruling.

In the 20th minute, Martinelli completed Fabio Vieira's pass, but the referee stopped him from celebrating.

Before he sent the ball to Vieira, Eddie Nketiah was deemed to be in an offside position by VAR.

The Everton striker Beto was attempting to block a square pass from Gabriel Magalhaes when the ball accidentally ricocheted off his shin and into Nketiah's path.

PGMOL claims that VAR determined that Beto's touch was not intentional.

This indicated that Nketiah was offside because his trailing leg was almost past the last defender.

Ultimately, Leandro Trossard scored the game-winning goal for Arsenal in the second half.
