The Big Brother Naija All Stars housemate Venita Akpofure and the show's producers have been threatened with a N10 billion lawsuit for allegedly "defaming" the Tiv Nation by the member of the Benue State House of Representatives who represents Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency.

In the reality show, Venita claimed that "Tiv men give their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes." This statement has drawn criticism.

The Tiv people of North Central, Nigeria, were outraged by her statement, and many demanded that she be sued.

As a result, Venita and the Big Brother Naija name should be sued, according to Hon. Tarkighir, for giving her "the mega platform to defame the Tiv tribe."

He posted the following message on his Facebook page: "#Venita Akpofure- Slam a 10BN defamation suit on her, the Big Brother brand and its promoters, they provided her with the mega platform to defame an entire tribe and are equally liable for not disowning her."

Terna Tarka, a Tiv from Benue State, and Venita had two daughters together.
