WHEN WE OBTAIN A RESOLUTION FROM THE REPS-INEC, WE WILL UPDATE THE VOTERS' REGISTRY
The House of Representatives' resolution regarding the country's voter registration has not yet been officially communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), according to INEC.
Rotimi Oyekanmi, Rotimi's chief press secretary, responded to a publication by the House of Representatives calling for the removal of bogus names from the register on Friday in Abuja.
After unanimously approving a motion of urgent public significance on Thursday, the House passed the resolution at its plenary session.
"Our attention has been drawn to media reports of the resolution passed by the House of Representatives on Friday, asking INEC to take certain actions on the National Register of Voters," Oyekanmi said.
"However, it is also the tradition of the House to officially transmit such resolutions with details of what transpired to the commission each time such specific resolutions are passed to enable INEC to take the required steps.
"But the commission is yet to receive any communication from the House to that effect. Therefore, I cannot respond on the basis of media reports."
