UCL: Erling's Father Was Removed From His Seat After Angering Real Madrid Supporters With His Celebrations
Social media videos seem to capture Erling Haaland's father mocking the home crowd before being ejected from his box.
Haaland tweeted: "OK. RM was not happy we were celebrating KDB goal.
"Other than that we had to move because RM fans not happy with 1-1."
De Bruyne scored to offset Vinicius Junior's first goal in the 67th minute.
Haaland waved with both hands, grinned at the spectators, cupped his ears to the Real Madrid supporters, made gestures, and according to sources in Spain, threw food at the crowd.
On Wednesday, he tweeted once more to confirm, "We had some good banter with Madrid fans," he added. "They were not happy when City scored. Typical.
"Then we had to move 50 meters away. Nothing more. All happy. Well nearly."
The former Manchester City and Leeds player frequently attends City games, where his son has so far this season scored 51 goals.
Spanish powerhouse Madrid has won the Champions League trophy five times since 2014—a title City has yet to take home—and last year they eliminated the Premier League champions at the semi-final stage.
Haaland's contract reportedly has a special release clause that allows him to join Real Madrid in 2024, according to rumors from October, which City manager Pep Guardiola later denied to be "true."
A transfer to Real Madrid is "the dream" for any player, according to the 22-year-old's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, who stated this in March.
On Wednesday, May 17, City will face Real Madrid at Etihad Stadium for the second leg.
If Guardiola's team wins, they will compete in this year's final on Saturday, June 10, in Istanbul's Atatürk Olympic Stadium against either Inter Milan or AC Milan.
