Sam Amadi Requests A Live Broadcast And Explains Why

Sam Amadi, the director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has asserted that the presidential election petition tribunal is a public interest case and that the public should be able to watch the hearing live online.

Amadi stated in a tweet on Monday that the issues go beyond the candidates' and parties' private rights.

The announcement of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the February 25 presidential election is being contested by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

Amadi remarked that "the hearing ought to be broadcast live."

He wrote, "Presidential election petition is a public interest litigation. There ought to be a live transmission of its hearing because of the political nature of the case.

"The issues are not just about the private rights of candidates and parties. It is also about the public interest of voters."
