1. President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has promised to take harsh decisions to reposition the country for the benefit of citizens and workers ahead of his inauguration. Tinubu asked for the people's collaboration and assistance in tackling poverty, ignorance, disease, divisiveness, ethnic and religious hatred in a statement for Workers' Day 2023.


2. Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the suspended Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner, has been summoned by a joint panel of officers from the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission to answer questions about his conduct during the April 15 supplementary elections.


3. Godswill Akpabio, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and now senator-elect for the Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, has informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to lead the 10th Senate. Akpabio stated this after meeting with the President at his official residence in Abuja, the Aso Rock Villa, on Sunday. He also promised to work closely with the next administration in the interest of the youth.


4. In the early hours of Monday, one of the buses transporting stranded Nigerians from Khartoum, Sudan's capital, to Port Sudan, from which they will go to Saudi Arabia, caught fire. Twenty-six buses carrying the trapped Nigerians left Al Razi about 12 a.m. on Monday for Port Sudan.


5. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has prohibited Indomie noodles from being imported into the nation. Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, the Agency's Director-General, confirmed this in an interview with journalists on Monday.


6. Egyptian authorities agreed on Monday to let Nigerians fleeing the turmoil in neighboring Sudan to enter through their nation. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, head of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), stated Wednesday that Egypt agreed to open the border following President Muhammadu Buhari's involvement.


7. In a morning onslaught on Sunday, bandits killed at least 40 peasants in Kebbi and Zamfara states. Six mobile police officers were among the 36 people slain at Dan Umaru in Kebbi State's Zuru region.


8. Former governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, expressed sadness yesterday over the killing of 25 members of the All Progressives Congress during the recent general elections, stating that "despite the intimidation, harassment, violence, and killings perpetrated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), people still identified with APC."


9. Organized Labour yesterday expressed concern about what it dubbed last-minute theft of the treasury by outgoing governors, ministers, and other political office holders, and urged President Muhammad Buhari to do everything in his power to put a stop to it.


10. The Abuja Traders' Association has requested that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, order the arrest and prosecution of 30 police officers who were employed by a firm to oversee the alleged illegal demolition of properties at the Abuja Shopping Complex. The association also brought to the IGP's attention the detention, intimidation, and harassment of its executives by police officers working on the firm's orders.
