Dr. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, has revealed that his and other ministers' monthly remuneration is N942,000 after taxation, despite calls for a rise in the N30,000 national minimum wage.

Ngige, who spoke on Channels Television's Politics Today on Monday, also stated that ministers do not receive allowances other than duty allowance when traveling for work. "My monthly salary is N942,000." My wage with my PA-gross total after tax includes my feeding, transportation, the transportation of one PA, the salary of my gardener, and the salary of my cook. They pay me N942,000 after high taxation. "Every minister you see earns around that amount, as do special advisers." We don't have any allowances except when you travel, therefore they're nothing. "You are entitled to duty tour allowance, just like any other public officer," Ngige explained.
