LAUTECH Medical Professionals Declare A Suspension Of Services Due To Overdue Debt

The Ogbomoso Teaching Hospital of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) chapter of the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has announced its closure.

The association stated that due to subpar hospital services, they have halted all of their hospital services.

On Monday, a statement was released to make this declaration.

The joint signatures of the statement's chairman, Dr. Ayobami Alabi, and secretary, Dr. Taiwo Alatishe, were included.

In a statement released on Monday, the doctors stated that the decision was made in light of a resolution passed by Congress and the deadline having passed. The group added that the decision was made after the association closely examined the circumstance without a guarantee that the problem would be fully or partially rectified anytime soon.

The public, traditional leaders, important stakeholders, and the Oyo State Government were then urged to save the teaching hospital.

"The congress hereby resolves by this press release to intimate the public of the notice of withdrawal of our services beginning from 08:00 a.m on Monday May 8, following expiration of our ultimatum.

"This is done to safeguard the hospital from total collapse and to reposition the hospital for better training, research, and services that the hospital is established to subserve.

"Delay and difficulty in payment of 2016 to 2017 salary arrears by the management and persistent failure of the management.

"The persistent inability of hospital management to employ doctors and other staff hinged on the excuse of no funds, has led to failure in expanding the scope of training and services."
