"We're shocked..."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confessed that the goalscoring capabilities of striker Erling Haaland in a record-breaking rookie season have astonished everyone at the club.

During Man City's Premier League victory over Fulham, Haaland scored his 50th goal of the season.

The Norwegian international is one goal away from breaking the Premier League scoring record.

Man City face West Ham United on Wednesday, and one more goal would put Haaland ahead of Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole, who both average 34 goals each season.

Guardiola remarked of Haaland ahead of Man City's game against West Ham on Wednesday: "It's a surprise for all of us, maybe not for him because he's done it in a different league. He does it for the success of the team.

"Of course, it is good for him and the team - it is a good sign, the magnitude of the record and it's not been broken for a long time. All will be broken one day. I am pretty sure he will score more in the Premier League from now until the end of the season."
