Todd Boehly, owner of Chelsea, has started to back away from the club following the Premier League giants' worst season under his stewardship.

The Blues will finish 12th in the Premier League this year, which will be their worst result in 29 years.

After taking over, the American billionaire started making enormous purchases throughout two subsequent transfer windows.

In the last two transfer windows, he spent almost £600 million on players, but it had a disastrous outcome because Thomas Tuchel was fired and Frank Lampard was powerless to turn things around.

Boehly has reportedly opted to reduce his direct engagement in the club's operations, according to a recent Bloomberg story.

According to the article, he used to devote about 50% of his time to Chelsea's daily operations but is now only doing so 20% of the time.

He has now given Chelsea's sporting directors more authority.
