EPL: ALAN SHEARER AND GARY LINEKER REACT TO HAALAND SURPASSING THE RECORD FOR MOST GOALS SCORED
"That's insane..."
Former Premier League legends Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker led the accolades for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland after he broke the Premier League goal scoring record on Wednesday night.
On Wednesday, Haaland scored his 35th goal of the Premier League season in Man City's 3-0 win over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
The Norwegian international surpassed Shearer and Andy Cole as the all-time leader in the record books.
In doing so, the 22-year-old scored his 51st goal of the season for Pep Guardiola's side across all competitions.
Man City still have five games left in the league, and Haaland could break the English top-flight goals record with four more games to play in the Champions League and FA Cup.
Reacting, Shearer, in a tweet, wrote: Shearer tweeted: "Couldn't have wanted it to go to a nicer guy. It's only taken 28 years! He's the best."
On his part, Lineker tweeted, "A Premier League record for Erling Haaland. 35 goals. That's nuts. Thoughts are with Alan Shearer at this difficult time."
