Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, makes difficult decisions when he assumes office and may consolidate government institutions.

He is likely to make decisions regarding the implementation of the Stephen Oronsaye panel's recommendations for civil service reform, the elimination of the contentious fuel subsidy that has become a resource drain, job cuts, the imposition of higher taxes, the privatization of public corporations, and the sale of certain government holdings.

Tinubu had been emphasizing to his supporters the importance of making decisions that, while they may be difficult at the time, ultimately benefit the country.

Tinubu, the incumbent All Progressives Congress's candidate for president on February 25, 2023, made a commitment to do so before the election.

The All Progressives Congress candidate for president at the time, Tinubu, had promised to end the fuel subsidy if elected because it had been a significant revenue drain on the government before the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

One of our correspondents was informed by a highly placed source on Saturday that the incoming president would merge some federal ministries and agencies in accordance with the Oronsaye panel's recommendations and would make difficult decisions on other matters based on discussions held by Tinubu and his core supporters.

According to reports, Tinubu had been consulting with some of his trusted advisers on how to reposition the nation, and one of their recommendations was for him to critically evaluate the Oronsaye report.

It was gathered that Tinubu had been meeting with some of his trusted aides on steps to reposition the country and that one of them was to take a critical look at the Oronsaye report.

The source said, "The report has been gathering dust at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Nothing has been done to it.

"Even President Muhammadu Buhari, who promised to cut the cost of governance, couldn't do anything about it. But the incoming government is likely to take a critical look at the report. You know he (Tinubu) is an accountant and he knows how to manage resources, increase revenue, and so forth.

"His meetings with trusted allies and those who are familiar with the economy will bring out the best for the country. He is not a novice in managing people and resources.

"So, I can conveniently tell you that some ministries are going to be merged. Nigeria should expect tough but meaningful decisions from the President-elect."
