BARCELONA SHOULD SIGN EX-MANCHESTER UNITED PLAYER LIONEL MESSI, ACCORDING TO MESSI

According to El Nacional, Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has pushed Barcelona to sign former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria ahead of a possible summer return.

Messi is poised to leave PSG in the summer, and a return to his boyhood club Barcelona has been extensively touted.

The 35-year-old wants to play alongside his compatriot Di Maria at Barcelona.

Messi and Di Maria, who presently plays for Juventus, worked together to help Argentina win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Di Maria, a former Real Madrid player, has eight goals and seven assists in 33 games for Juve this season in all competitions.

His contract with the Serie A giants expires in the summer, and he can be recruited on a free transfer.

Last summer, Di Maria was linked with a move to Barcelona, but the deal fell through.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona president Joan Laporta would grant Messi's wish and bring Di Maria to Camp Nou this summer.
