WHY DID MANCHESTER CITY BEAT BAYERN MUNICH IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said that the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final versus Bayern Munich was "a tough game."

Rodri's magnificent long-range shot gave the Premier League champions the lead in the first half.

After the break, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland scored to give City a comfortable advantage heading into the return leg.

In an interview with the BBC, Guardiola stated: ""It really was a good Champions League game, and top teams. During 55, 60 minutes it was a tight game.

"We found an incredible goal from Rodri but we could not control the pockets, with Musiala and Gnabry.

"The first five, 10, 15 minutes of the second half they were better, they had chances. But after, we adjusted something and in the last parts of the game we were better."
