TINUBU'S PRESIDENCY ENDANGERS MY LIFE, SAYS EX-LAGOS DEPUTY GOVERNOR
Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, Nigeria's first female democratically elected Deputy Governor, has warned that her life is under peril as a result of the election.
Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, Nigeria's first female democratically elected Deputy Governor, has warned that her life is in danger as a result of the victory of former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President-Elect.
The former Deputy Governor under Sir Michael Otedola from 1992 to 1993 also announced that she had begun the process of surrendering her Nigerian citizenship, as she had promised if Tinubu were elected President.
Speaking to reporters at her home in Ikoyi, Lagos, the former state number two said her feud with Tinubu began over 20 years ago when she rejected his governorship ambition.
She claimed that since then, all attempts to reach an agreement with him had failed.
There was no quick response from Tinubu's media team, as Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson for his Presidential campaign council, had not answered to our correspondent's request for comment at the time of filing this story.
She recalled former President Olusegun Obasanjo's attempt at reconciliation, which likewise failed.
According to her, with Tinubu's inauguration on May 29, her life is in jeopardy.
She said, "I came out before the election to say that if former Governor Bola Tinubu won the election, I, Sinatu Aderoju Ojikutu, will renounce the citizenship of this nation and I have my reasons.
"When he won, people called me and said he had won, that he would not do anything bad to me but I know this man and I have known him for over 20 years now, I know what he has done to me personally.
"So calling this press conference is also to show that I am personally endangered by the current situation. I am endangered, I have been ostracized, humiliated in places where I should be honoured because of his (Tinubu) not being at peace with me.
"The last thing before the election was when it came to me that he was saying that am I still alive?
