THOSE WHO DO NOT RECEIVE PENSIONS IN IMO ARE ILLEGITIMATE WAGE EARNERS, ACCORDING TO UZODIMMA
Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, reminded the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners on Tuesday that those who are currently not receiving their pensions are "fraudulent salary earners, victims of irregular salaries, those involved in padded pensions, double salaries, and workers with irregular employment history."
On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Uzodimma was paid a courtesy call by the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Nigerian Union of Pensioners in Imo State at the New Exco Chambers Government House.
He told the leadership of Imo State's labor and pensioners that the state government has begun working on the arrangements for the payment of pensioners' gratuities and check-off dues.
Uzodinma also asked the Accountant General to begin paying pensioners' check-off dues, noting that the payment had been postponed due to the pensioners' irregular actions.
He praised Organized Labor for refusing to be used to attack the government, saying that they "saved the government the problem of spending resources in the wrong direction."
Uzodimma, who admitted that the Civil Service is the government's brain, stated that "it will be better for the Unions to always work with the government to allow peace, progress, and development of the workers and the Civil Service."
The governor asked the Head of Service, Barr. Raymond Ucheoma, to guarantee that the processes for completing worker promotions are completed within seven days, as advised by the HOS.
In expressing gratitude to the Governor, the Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Imo chapter, Pastor Philip Nwansi, vowed to work with him on behalf of his team and the labor in Imo State to ensure that Imo workers receive what is due to them.
