PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: GAVE THE APC NO ADVANTAGE - LAI MOHAMMED
The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari did not give the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) any edge in the February 25 Presidential election.
On Wednesday, Mohammed told State House correspondents that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting was headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During a recent official visit to the United States, he clarified his remarks.
Mohammed said, "I went to the US to balance the skewed report about the just concluded elections, and everywhere I went, I said very unambiguously that the last general elections in Nigeria are the most transparent.
"It was the freest and the most authentic Nigeria had ever held and that's despite the effort of the opposition to delegitimize the election.
"The first instance was that the president didn't confer any advantage on his ruling party [APC] and that is why as far as he was concerned, he would rather lose the election than win at all cost and the result showed it."
Remember that the APC's presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, defeated the PDP's Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party's Mr Peter Obi.
