OSHOALA AND OKORONKWO SCORE GOALS AS THE SUPER FALCONS DEFEAT HAITI 2-1 IN A FRIENDLY
In a friendly match on Friday at the Emirhan Sports Complex in Antalya, the Super Falcons defeated Haiti 2-1 thanks to goals from Esther Okoronkwo and Asisat Oshoala.
In the 22nd minute, Oshoala had the ball in the net, but it was disallowed for offside.
Atletico Madrid star Rasheedat Ajibade took aim at the goal six minutes later, but her well-placed shot hit the woodwork.
Five minutes before halftime, Esther Okoronkwo's potent free kick gave the Super Falcons their first goal.
Up until the completion of the first half, the score was 1-0.
After the break, the Super Falcons completely took over the match and pinned the Haitians to their half.
A goalmouth scramble by Oshoala added the second two minutes before the hour mark.
In an effort to salvage face, the Haitians broke out of their shell and came close to scoring, but goalie Chiamaka Nnadozie made an outstanding save to prevent it.
A defensive blunder allowed the Haitians to gain a goal 15 minutes from time.
After that, the Haitians applied more pressure on the Super Falcons but were unable to score.
A minute before the end, Nnadozie made two saves to keep the Haitians from scoring.
On Tuesday of the following week, the nine-time African champions will play a friendly match against New Zealand.
