LA-LIGA: THE REAL REASON I LEFT CHELSEA FOR REAL MADRID, PASSING OVER PSG AND OTHERS - RUDIGER

Antonio Rudiger, a Real Madrid defender, has explained why he joined the club from Chelsea last summer.

Rudiger has previously been linked with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain before joining Real Madrid.

However, once his contract with Chelsea expired, he ended up joining the Spanish La Liga champions.

Rudiger spoke with Canal+Afrique on his decision to join Real Madrid over other teams such as PSG and Barcelona.

"There were a lot of rumours when PSG came, it was something I wasn't looking for. It is nothing against PSG,

it is a beautiful club. But Real Madrid are Real Madrid," Rudiger said.

"If you want to be on the winning side, you join Real Madrid."

The centre-back added, "When I got an ACL injury in 2016, Florentino Pérez sent me a letter wishing me a speedy recovery. I could not believe it.

"The moment I knew I could go to Real Madrid was when I lifted the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea."
