EPL: HUGO LLORIS CRITICIZES TOTTENHAM PLAYERS FOLLOWING THEIR 6-1 LOSS TO NEWCASTLE

"Very embarrassing..."

Tottenham captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has criticised the team following their Premier League defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.

Spurs were thrashed by Newcastle, and Lloris described his squad as "a mess" and "embarrassing."

Spurs fell behind in the second minute at St James' Park and were 5-0 down after 21 minutes.

For the visitors, Harry Kane scored a consolation goal, while substitute Callum Wilson added a sixth for the hosts.

"It's very embarrassing. The first thing is that we should apologise to the fans who travelled," the Frenchman told Sky Sports.

"To concede five goals in 20 minutes. You can get punched once, twice, you can concede, but on the pitch it was something strange

"We cannot hide ourselves behind the club's problems. We are players, we are professional.

"Today there was too much lacking in all aspects."
