EPL: DON'T DO ANYTHING DUMB, SAYS CARRAGHER AHEAD OF ARSENAL'S MATCH AGAINST MANCHESTER CITY

Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool star, has cautioned Arsenal not to do anything stupid ahead of their key encounter against Manchester City.

Carragher issued the warning while arguing with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who had previously stated that his team needed to beat Manchester City to keep their title aspirations alive.

The Gunners are in a slump after blowing two-goal leads to draw with Liverpool and West Ham in the last two weeks.

Arsenal then drew again on Friday night, this time 3-3 with bottom-placed Southampton.

After the sad tie, Arteta informed reporters that his team will now need to defeat Pep Guardiola's side at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night in order to claim the cup.

However, Carragher believes that Arsenal should not travel to the Etihad to win.

He believes Arsenal can still win the league if they draw with City, and that the Gunners'should not do anything dumb' to force a victory.

"What I don't think Arsenal should do is, if that game is in the balance with 20 minutes to go, they shouldn't do something stupid in terms of thinking they have to win the game.

"They want to win the game but don't lose it. If they lose the game, it is over, it's finished."

The Gunners lead the league table by five points going into the Etihad clash, but second-placed Manchester City have two games in hand.
