EFL: AKPOM HAS EMERGED SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE SEASON

Chuba Akpom of Middlesbrough has been named Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season.

Akpom was recognized for his outstanding goal-scoring performances for Boro this season.

So far this season, the 27-year-old has 28 goals and two assists in 36 games.

The Nigerian-born forward is also on line to become Middlesbrough's first Golden Boot winner since John Hickton scored 25 goals in 1970/71.

It's been an incredible season for Akpom, who began the season without a squad number and was assigned to train with the U-21s.

Middlesbrough is also vying for a place in the Premier League.
