ADAMAWA GUBER: INEC PROCLAIMS BINANI WINNER DESPITE INCOMPLETE RESULTS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has proclaimed Senator Aisha Dahiru, widely known as Binani, as the winner of the Adamawa Governorship election amidst controversy.

Binani has become Nigeria's first female governor in the country's democratic history.

Before, results from 10 of the 20 local government regions had been declared, and the exercise had been postponed until 11 a.m.

Nonetheless, Ari announced the final outcome 1 hour ahead of schedule.

Before the announcement, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in the lead.

Several PDP supporters in the hall rejected the INEC REC's pronouncement of Binani as the winner.

The announcement was made by the Resident Electoral Commissioner against the returning officer.
