A FIRE DESTROYS NEARLY N80 MILLION IN PROPERTY IN ILORIN
On Thursday, an Eidel-fitr eve fire calamity in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, damaged property worth over N80 million.
The fire broke out about 07.22pm at the famed Oja-Tuntun Baboko market complex in the state's Ilorin West Local Government Area.
Hassan Adekunle, spokesman for the state fire service, said that firemen quenched the severity of the inferno, which might have spread to neighboring stores and caused more significant damage in the market.
According to the commanding officer of the firemen, their quick arrival at the scene allowed them to reduce the damage caused by the raging fire.
Six of the 1070 prison stores were harmed by the fire.
According to the officer, the fire was started by the carelessness of one of the shop owners.
Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, Director of Kwara State Fire Service, greeted all Muslims and Nigerians at home and abroad a good Eid-el-Fitr and cautioned people to be cautious, especially with their cooking materials.
