WHY WILL HISTORY BE KIND TO ORTOM, IKPEAZU, AND UGWUANYI - WIKE
Nyesom Wike
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has stated that despite their losses in the February 25 election, members of the G-5 governors will be remembered for pushing for equity, justice, and fairness.
According to the DAILY POST, some of the governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party and known as the G-5 lost their senatorial bids during the election.
Governors Samuel Ortom of Benue, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia were all defeated in their respective senatorial districts.
Wike, the G-5 leader, told a group of journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday that even though the members lost their elections, history will remember them for producing a Southern president.
He said, "Ortom said even if he loses his senatorial election, let equity, justice and fairness prevail. He may not gain it now. But history will be kind to him.
"Same applies to Ugwuanyi and Ikpeazu. Makinde said even if he lost his governorship ambition, he was interested in the unity of Nigeria."
