LALIGA SPECIFIES REQUIREMENTS FOR MESSI'S RETURN TO BARCELONA, SO HE CAN'T PLAY FOR PSG IN THE UPCOMING SEASON

Lionel Messi

According to La Liga president Javier Tebas, Lionel Messi won't be playing football at Barcelona or PSG in the upcoming season.

He added that the club's financial situation would have to drastically change for Messi to play for Barcelona again the following season, and that the 35-year-old would have to reduce his salary to almost nothing.

Nothing has been done to extend Messi's contract at PSG, which expires at the end of the current campaign. Two years after he left Spain, there have been discussions about a return to Barcelona.

Tebas said, according to Mundo Deportivo, "Many things have to change for Leo Messi's return to Barcelona. First off, he has to drastically lower his salary; the club must offload players and other things that they are yet to do. They are the only ones who can do it. We will not change the rules.

"Messi can't be at Barcelona or PSG next season. In fact, PSG earn less money than Barcelona."
