Alex Iwobi has put off signing a new deal with Everton as the club battles for Premier League survival.

Everton are eager to sign the Nigeria international to a new long-term deal following his outstanding play in the second half of last season.

This summer, Iwobi will enter the final year of his current deal.

Negotiations between his representatives and Everton were going quickly earlier in the season, but they appear to have halted in recent weeks.

According to Football Insider, Iwobi is waiting to see if Everton will stay in the Premier League before signing a new contract.

This season, the 26-year-old has made 27 league appearances for the Merseysiders, scoring once and assisting six times.
