GUBERNATORIAL POLLS: NNPP LEADS IN TARABA, WHILE THE PDP GETS SIX LOCAL GOVERNMENT SEATS

On Saturday in Jalingo, Taraba State's capital, history was made when the governorship candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party NNPP, Professor Sani Yahaya, passed the council's governorship election results.

The capital, which had previously been a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress APC, was easily taken over by the NNPP.

But, after collation of Saturday's governorship election results from 10 of the state's sixteen local government councils, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP's Kefas Agbu, is leading.

Similarly, the NNPP guber candidate won Jalingo, Gassol, and Ibi councils.

In contrast to the PDP and NNPP, the APC has only won one of the sixteen council elections.

The NNPP received 49,424 votes in Jalingo, the state capital, where it caught the other political parties off guard.

With 20,769 votes, the PDP behind the NNPP in Jalingo, the capital city.

The results of the state's remaining six local government councils are still pending.
