GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION RESULTS: INEC HAS ANNOUNCED THE NAMES OF ALL 26 GOVERNORS-ELECT (FULL LIST)



Following the March 18 elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has so far announced 26 candidates for Governor-elect.


Alex Otti of the Labour Party, LP, was declared the winner of the governorship election in Abia state on Wednesday.


Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was also declared the winner of the Enugu State governorship election.


As a result, the results of 26 of the 28 governorship elections have been released. Kebbi and Adamawa elections were declared inconclusive.


The APC won in 15 states, the PDP in nine, and the LP in one. Kano state was won by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).


The APC retained seven governors. Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Mai Mala Muni (Yobe), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), and Babagana Zulum are among them (Borno).


The ruling party also won eight new candidates, including Uba Sani (Kaduna), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Mohammed Bago (Niger), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), and Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi).


On the PDP platform, seven first-term governors were elected. Kefas Agbu (Taraba), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Siminialayi Fubara (Rivers), and Sheriff Oborevwori are the representatives (Delta).


Dauda Lawal of the PDP deposed Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle, while Abba Kabir of the NNPP deposed the APC in Kano State.
