MY RE-ELECTION TRIUMPH, GOD'S WILL, BAUCHI PEOPLE -

Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, claimed on Monday that his re-election for a second term in office was the will of God and the result of a collective struggle of the people of the state who put the state's interest above their own.

The governor was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after receiving 525,280 votes, defeating his closest rival, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (retd) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 432, 272 votes.

Governor Mohammed, speaking to press after his victory, said he was honored by the revalidation of his mandate by the electorates, and vowed to build on the successes of his government thus far.

The governor, who ran on the platform of the main opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP), however, urged other candidates who ran alongside him in last Saturday's election to join forces with his administration in order to propel Bauchi State to greater heights.

He stated that now that the elections were over, it was time to get down to real government business, and he also asked for forgiveness from people he may have offended during the campaign.
