HOURS AFTER ATIKU'S KATSINA WIN, GOVERNOR MASARI FIRES TOP ASSISTANTS

A commissioner, two permanent secretaries, and the head of the state's Pilgrims Welfare Board have all had their appointments to their positions immediately terminated by Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari.


According to reports, this occurred just hours after Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, defeated Bola Tinubu, the candidate for Masari's All Progressives Congress.


"All the affected political and public office holders are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession to their respective permanent secretaries or the most senior directors as the case may be," Lawal said.


Peter Obi of the Labour Party came in second with 6,376 votes, followed by Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP, who received 69,385 votes.

The affected officials were listed in a statement released on Monday by the Secretary to the Katsina State Government (SSG), Muntari Lawal. Tasi'u Dahiru-Dandagoro is the Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transportation.


Others include Aminu Waziri, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Fatima Ahmed, permanent secretary of the Sustainable Development Goals. 


"All the affected political and public office holders are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession to their respective permanent secretaries or the most senior directors as the case may be," Lawal said.
