ENUGU STATE GOVERNOR LOSES SENATORIAL BID TO LABOUR PARTY CANDIDATE
Enugu Governor's Senate campaign is unsuccessful against Okechukwu Ezea of the Labour Party
Mr. Ugwuanyi, who is wrapping up his second term as governor, is running for the Enugu North Senatorial District in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State lost his race for the Senate to Okechukwu Ezea of the Labour Party (LP), who is running in the district.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Enugu North Senatorial District election held on Saturday, February 25, is Mr. Ugwuanyi, who is wrapping up his second term as governor.
On Monday at at 5:20 a.m., Chukwuemeka Ubaka, the returning officer for the election, announced the results at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation center in the Nsukka Local Government Area headquarters.
Mr. Ezea, the LP candidate, received 104,492 votes in total to defeat Mr. Ugwuanyi, the PDP candidate, who received 46,948 votes.
Ejike Eze, the district's candidate for the All Progressives Congress, received 6,816 votes and finished a distant third.
Professor Mr. Ubaka claimed that Mr. Ezea was chosen as the winner because he satisfied all legal standards and received the most votes in the election.
