UNICAL SENDS A WARNING ABOUT A POTENTIAL CULT WAR AND KIDNAPPING ON CAMPUS
A rival cult group's plot to cause mayhem on campus has alarmed the administration of the University of Calabar.
According to Egbe, the top-secret report predicted a coming terror attack on the institution's personnel and students.
As stated in the release: "The security report indicates that any moment from now, there will be heightened cult activities and kidnappings within and around the University environment."
The announcement also revealed that militants would be responsible for the kidnaps, and their intended victims would be some unnamed students and resident academics.
"The attackers, according to the report may use the waterways and adjoining creeks to launch their attacks," statement read.
According to the press release, the university's administration is sticking to its earlier stance of closing all entrances and exits to the campus. It also reminded the institution's acting chief security officer to make sure all residential areas, particularly those near waterways, are adequately supervised.
While urging student to engage in their proper activities, "without fear of intimidation from any quarters," the university community was contacted by the institution's administration, who asked them to call a specified phone number as soon as they noticed any strange activity on or around the campus and immediately report it to the acting security officer.
