KOGI POLITICIAN WAS PICTURE AFTER BEING ARRESTED FOR FRAUD
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate for the Kogi State House of Assembly, Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi, who was detained in Abuja for allegedly stealing N1.4 billion from a bank, has been transferred to Lagos State.
On Sunday, October 30, Atumeyi and two other people were detained with N526 million and $140,500 in cash. Atumeyi is running for the State Assembly seat of Ankpa 11 Constituency.
Atumeyi and the other suspects were flown into Lagos in the early hours of Wednesday, November 2, as part of the ongoing investigation into the scam, according to EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren.
Uwujaren claims that Atumeyi will reportedly be questioned by a different team of agents at the Commission's Lagos Command.
The EFCC detained Atumeyi together with Joshua Dominic and Abdulmalik Salau Femi, a former bank employee, for allegedly hacking into a commercial bank's system and defrauding the organization of more than N1.4 billion.
