Gov. Ikpeazu is traveling the world rather than concentrating on governing - Chief of the APC in Abia Obiwuru

Chima Obiwuru, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the southeast, accused Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State, on Thursday of neglecting his duties as governor in favor of frequent political gatherings that do not directly advance the state's economic or infrastructure development.

The G-5 governors withdrew their support for Atiku, citing the need for peace as requiring Senator Iyioricha Ayu's resignation as the party's national chairman.

However, Atiku Abubakar, the PDP's nominee for president in 2023, argued that Ayu's resignation was not feasible at the time and that he had moved past the problem.

In a statement on Thursday, Obiwuru, who was assessing the effect of Governor Ikpeazu's frequent travel on the development of Abia, expressed his opinion that the governor would leave no enduring legacy and berated the Ikpeazu-led administration for allegedly failing to address the appalling state of Aba, the state's commercial hub.

He claimed that the governor of the state of Abia had wasted seven years in office.

Obiwuru, a close aide to Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, the current Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development and the Abia APC's candidate for governor in the general elections of 2023, requested that Governor Ikpeazu apologize to the state's citizens for wasting taxpayer money on a trip around the world with Governor Nyesom Wike.

"Abians should never think of voting PDP again, you can't continue to make the same mistake and expect a different answer," he avowed.

Onyebuchi Ememanka, the chief press secretary for Abia State's governor, has provided an explanation for the recent visit of the G-5 governors to Benue State.

Ememanka hinted that the visit was a part of the plans to strengthen the party at all levels in a statement she released on Thursday, explaining that the PDP governors who were upset were in Benue to support their colleague.
According to him: "These Governors cannot continue to wait on the wings of indecision and allow other parties to erode traditional PDP stronghold states. Elections are not won in Abuja but locally at the various units in the state. These governors have absolutely nothing against the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku
