On November 3, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike inaugurated the first group of the 100,000 Special Assistants on Political Unit Affairs in the state.

People from the Rivers West and Rivers South-East senatorial districts of the State were among those inaugurated at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa in the Ikwerre Local Government Area.

They received a detailed explanation of their responsibilities from Governor Wike, who also expressed his gratitude to them for being chosen to work as his assistants. He advised them to engage with their populace and learn what opinions they had of his administration. Additionally, they must comprehend how his administration's programs and policies are seen by the citizens who make up their political units.

As Special Assistants, they are required by the governor to compile these impressions and relay them as feedback to the 32 Constituency Liaison Officers and 319 Ward Liaison Officers who were recently appointed, who will then forward it to the governor's office.

"Now your own is the most important because it is you that hear directly from the people. It is you that know the feelings of the people about us. It is you that will come and tell us, look, this is what my people are saying.

Governor Wike emphasised that they are the ones who will determine the decision and direction that the State and the party will take politically in the days ahead.

"This is a political period, hear from the people. What are they saying. So, you'll be able to advise the governor, so will know what decision to take. It is you who will determine what decision the people of Rivers State will take at the end of the day."
