COMMUNICATION IS ESSENTIAL BEFORE IMPOSING TAXES - FIRS

According to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), discussion is essential to prevent backlash from taxpayers.

This disclosure was made on Saturday during the 2022 Kaduna State Tax Dialogue by Mr. Muhammad Nami, Executive Chairman of FIRS.

He noted the importance of two-way communication between the government and the taxpayers and said: "Dialoguing on tax prevents destructive conflicts as no one feels cheated or unfairly treated.

When governments do not dialogue with the people on the taxes they wish to impose, they create room for conflict and even rebuff."
