CARRAGHER SURPRISED BY CHELSEA'S COLLAPSE: "YOU CAN'T BELIEVE THEY SPENT £275M IN THE SUMMER"

Jamie Carragher, a former player for Liverpool, has expressed dismay at the state of affairs at Chelsea.

Carragher made fun of the Blues after their 1-0 Premier League loss to Newcastle on Saturday, saying it would be hard to believe Todd Boehly invested £275M over the summer.

It was the first time since 2000 that Chelsea would suffer a third straight loss in all competitions.

Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, oversaw a hefty £275 million transfer budget during the summer transfer window.

The west Londoners signed players including Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, and Wesley Fofana from Leicester City for a combined £70 million sum.

Additionally, they signed Pierre-Emerick Aaubameyang from Barcelona, who was expected to contend for the Premier League championship this year.

Carragher, a former Liverpool and England defender wrote on Twitter, "Eddie Howe is getting more from his players than any other manager in the PL. While you can't believe Chelsea spent 275m in the summer, on a team that was very good in the last couple of years."
