A Nigerian man is apprehended by police after defrauding a Cambodian woman on Facebook of $5,000

In Phnom Penh, Cambodia, a 37-year-old Nigerian man was detained on suspicion of defrauding a woman of $5,000 through Facebook.

On Tuesday morning, the suspect known only as "Kel Chi" was taken into custody. by the Ministry of Interior's Light Criminal Police Division on October 11, 2022, and forwarded to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for legal action.

The victim then got a call from a man posing as a customs agent at the Phnom Penh Airport, who demanded $10,000 to pay tax on the imported goods. However, the victim's family used a remittance service to send $5,000, but after becoming suspicious, they alerted the police, who then detained Mr. Chi.
